Dear Council Team / Parks Department,

I am writing to raise a serious concern regarding Spinney Hill Park, which I have enjoyed walking through for over 20 years. It has long been an issue that food is regularly left out to feed the pigeons – often by elderly residents, possibly due to cultural traditions.

However, over the past two weeks, I’ve noticed a significant and disturbing development. Each day, a group of 6 to 7 rats is now feeding openly on this discarded food. Once disturbed, they flee under the nearby waste bins or into the surrounding grass areas.

This situation is deeply unpleasant and raises real concerns about public health. The rats appear increasingly comfortable in the area, and I worry that, if left unchecked, they may spread into nearby residential properties.

I would appreciate urgent action to address this – whether through increased pest control, better signage, or community awareness around feeding wildlife.
